At our salon, we do a thorough and personalized consultation to confirm the shape and color desired by each of our clients, before we start the procedure. A follow-up appointment is scheduled 2-3 weeks after the first application. The results are meticulously examined because everyone's skin heals differently.
During the first week after the treatment, the color might become lighter and this should not be alarming. This is a natural process so as the pigment is being deposited, part of the color will be lost due to skin regeneration as the top layer of dead skin sheds. This is expected to happen so the color and shape of your semi-permanent makeup will be finalized in the follow-up session which is included in the initial treatment price.
Like any cosmetic procedure, there are possible risks and we are committed to provide all relevant information to help determine whether semi-permanent makeup is right for you!
Cosmetic tattoos emerged from the influence of body art tattoos. They were used as a solution to reapplying makeup everyday, but overtime, they became problematic as they were permanent, looked unnatural, and the inks discolored to a bluish-gray colors after a while.
As time passed, it was evident that the chemicals and techniques used for body tattoos were not compatible with facial skin because it is thinner and more sensitive. Semi-permanent makeup emerged after that using technological advances to provide a better and non-permanent solution.
Some may confuse semi-permanent makeup with a tattoo which is a PERMANENT treatment. In semi-permanent makeup, the ink is placed right in the epidermis, the top layer of the skin, which is less invasive. Also, the pigments used are derived from natural minerals and the color composition is made to fade over time with no discoloration--the shade only gets lighter and lighter throughout the exfoliation of the epidermis until it fades away completely with time.
The process takes approximately 2-2.5 hours, depending on the area being covered and the shape desired. The first 30 minutes is dedicated to applying the numbing cream over the desired area and waiting for it to be absorbed and activated.
Semi-permanent makeup lasts approximately 1-3 years, depending on aftercare, skin type, and other factors such as lifestyle, use of certain medications, current or ongoing diseases/illnesses, genetics...etc.
